As part of the Festival of documentary films “The real in sight”, Image’ is, business education to the images in Lorraine, proposed on 18 November 2016 one day of training for professionals of the education to the image, that I’ve driven, titled “Education in the images to the test of the amateur practices”.

It is a State of the technology, the image with the digital practices, and then imagine film education actions that are relevant in the real context of the challenges of contemporary images.

The attached documents are notes of synthesis, and there were making a collective film by participants, in which the characters caught in the books of the library each speak their report images.

Text of presentation of the day

Since the invention of the cinematograph, moving images have strongly influenced our perceptions of the world. Drama, documentaries, experiments, practical amateurs... feed our imagination and shape our representations. The encounter with works and talents, development of curiosity and openness, the transmission of a cultural heritage and audio-visual language practice has always been the foundations of education to the images.
Today, the nature of the images and their function even tend to mutate. The proliferation of digital cameras and their integration into Smartphones translates into a new place of the of the image in the communicational and informational space. Instantaneous dissemination done enter the picture in a cycle of social relationship. Therefore, everyone has the opportunity to move from the status of mere spectator to that of producer of images that illustrates the massive development of social networks and digital platforms (500 hours of videos are posted every minute on Youtube, 10 billion videos are exchanged each day via Snapchat). The amateur practices grow and with them, it’s whole economic system audiovisual which evolves and changes gradually in the world of “data”. A memory function, the image becomes identity or even conversational.
In such a context, how to understand emerging practices, especially among young people? How to take the measure of the profound changes taking place in our relationship to reality? How to mobilize, adjust, rethink the tools and practices of education to the images?
It is the object of this day of reflection and training to explore issues, potentials and the appropriation of images of the future tools. We ask benchmarks to understand these technologies and emerging content, and then take example on concrete experiences to identify courses of action.
