Active conference to equip social actors with digital skills to work on self-esteem with adolescents. Exchange of experiences and practices, and proposal of a lived experience.
The [Image Forum-https://www.forumdesimages.fr/] organized the first “Social Field Forum” on 16 April 2019. Fifty social actors from the Paris region were present to discover the resources of TUMO Paris and participate in this training session led by Benoît Labourdette.
First of all, I proposed tools to understand what self-esteem is. And what is the image? Then I used an example to illustrate a type of action that constructively implements the processes of empathy, by putting adolescents through an experience.
At that moment of the conference, I realized that for it to be really meaningful, I had to give the participants an experience, that it was not enough to give them an explanation. In order for them to really understand the operational concepts I was proposing to them, they had to live them.
Then I formed groups of 4 to 5 people. Each group had the task of choosing one of the words, then going to take a picture, staged, of which this word would be the caption. With one objective: that these photos be then shared on a dedicated web page, accessible, so that they can be used as tools to initiate discussions with adolescents.
After they took the pictures, we watched a large part of them on the big screen, which was extremely rewarding for the participants. They have therefore gone through the emotions that adolescents can go through in this type of process, and have themselves received all the self-esteem that this type of process allows them to build.
In my opinion, this is the best way to learn. But this requires the conference facilitator to take the risk of proposing the participation of the listeners.
“Nothing risks nothing, nothing nothing”!
