DIA LOG: immersive creation shared with the children of a district of Choisy-le-Roi, “The Navigators”

Installation realized during a shared creation residency of Benoît Labourdette and Romain Baujard in 2019. As part of the DIA LOG action, carried out by the artists Myriam Drosne and Marie-Ann Trân, with the agency Exercice. Coproduction Paris Concert (in partnership with the tenants’ association Les Super Navigateurs) & MAC VAL.
Visit of the installation
As part of the European Heritage Days, the installation is presented in a unique way:
- On September 21, 2019 at the MAC VAL : visit around the model, immersive video projection, VR and participation. Free entrance from 12pm to 7pm. MAC VAL: place de la libération 94400 Vitry-sur-Seine. Bus 183 Stop MAC VAL or bus 180 stop Hôtel de Ville.
- On September 22, 2019 in Les Navigateurs : Artistic journey in the heart of the district, exhibition, projection, installation and performance. RDV at 2:00 p. m. and 4:00 p. m. Jacques Cartier Lane. At 6pm, musical and festive closing. Departure and reception: Jacques Cartier alley in Choisy-le-Roi - 94600. RER C stop Choisy-le-Roi then 15 min by foot - or bus 185 to the terminus. Or from Choisy’s door, bus 183 Robert Peary stop.
The DIA LOG action
Myriam Drosne and Marie-Ann Trân have been working for several years as artistic advisors in the Les Navigateurs district of Choisy-le-Roi, which is at the heart of an urban renewal project. They regularly propose to other artists to come and contribute to the actions. Benoît Labourdette and Romain Baujard were in residence in 2019, to create spontaneous works with the children of the neighbourhood, made of video, virtual reality, photos, painting, music, projections...
The architectural firm Exercice also contributed to the project by having the children make a very large model of the neighbourhood.
And finally, during a residency of Benoît Labourdette and Romain Baujard at the MAC VAL in August 2019, the immersive video installation was made with the children and will be presented to the public on 21 and 22 September 2019 at the MAC VAL and in the Les Navigateurs district, as part of the European Heritage Days.
The video installation, built in the model, offers a real immersion in the spirit of this district, seen by its children: we move around in this large model, in which extremely unusual films are projected, we live an experience of Virtual Reality that allows us to be immersed in the heart of the device, we participate by creating photographs...
