As part of its mission to promote collective intelligence by facilitating local think tanks, Act’art asked Benoît Labourdette to design, co-construct and co-host a collaborative professional day on the theme of “Artistic and digital practices for young people” .
We brought our expertise to bear on :
Benoît Labourdette worked closely and iteratively with Federico Bolognesi (in charge of cultural action residencies and meeting days), Sophie Gauthier (project manager) and the speakers, Margot Bareyt, Laurène Taravella, Audrey de Baere and Pierre Cattan. The event was held at L’Escale in Melun.
The teenage audience is one of the most complex to reach, to concern, outside the school setting. How should young people be approached? To what extent should they be involved in cultural projects? How can we respect their cultural rights? What role does digital technology play in their independent cultural practices and in their personal lives? How can professionals in the cultural, social and educational fields rethink their actions and methods so that they meet the needs of today’s youth, within a democratic framework?
The aim of the day is to take stock of the current situation, using collective intelligence methods, on the sociology of young people, their expectations, new cultural practices, digital technology and project design, and to share resources, ideas, working and evaluation methods, so as to leave nourished. A digital contribution tool will enable us to keep a useful record of the elaborations produced during the day.
This day is part of a wider reflection and dynamic that Act’art intends to carry out over several years, with the implementation of a digital project, several professional days and the creation of a network of professionals.
The program has been co-constructed with Benoît Labourdette, filmmaker, educator, researcher and consultant in cultural innovation and digital strategies. The morning will be devoted to participatory transmissions, led by Benoît Labourdette, Margot Bareyt, in charge of cultural interaction projects at Labo des Cultures, Audrey de Baere, in charge of programming and relations with young audiences at Passerelles, and Laurène Taravella, Pass Culture. The afternoon will be organized in the form of a “World Café”, to work together to meet the needs of local professionals, by co-constructing operational resources in the fields of communication, mediation, digital tools...

History
On June 28, 2000, the merger of ADIAM and ADACT gave birth to Act’art, an association under the French law of 1901, whose mission is to promote access to culture and artistic practices through performing and visual arts for all the people of Seine-et-Marne. Supported primarily by the Département de Seine-et-Marne, Act’art is the cultural operator within the framework of a constructive partnership.
Having criss-crossed the department with the Scènes Rurales for many years, Act’art is evolving its project in 2018. The presence of professional artists and the links they forge with local residents during residencies become the central axis around which Act’art develops a multi-disciplinary program that promotes eclecticism of forms by mixing dance and circus, music, visual arts, theater, opening up to hybrid forms, from photography to culinary art.
Drawing on Benoît Labourdette’s 30 years of experience in the field of cultural innovation and his research and methodological work, the Benoît Labourdette production agency supports cultural policies in their need for innovation, better encounters with populations, use of digital tools and cooperation, definition of mediation strategies, and support for artistic teams, technicians and elected representatives. Our method is always based on collective intelligence, cooperation and empowerment of people and structures. We work with cities and other local authorities, national networks, institutions and associations.
