Animation by Benoît Labourdette of a day of sharing digital mediation tools for cultural and digital mediators in the city of Nantes. September 17, 2019.
In order to transmit digital mediation tools that can be effective, it seems important to me to give the participants concrete experiences. I therefore proposed to the 120 people present a workshop of collective photographic creativity, in order to work on a common language around the digital. You will find all the details in the summary document (page 13).
The second part, in a smaller group and in a more classical way (due to the limited time), consisted in the transmission and sharing of innovative mediation tools as well as accessible and concrete technical tools for sharing.
By initiating the Nantes workshops on cultural mediation, the City of Nantes intends to open up a privileged space to facilitate the inter-knowledge of the actors, to share practices and experiences and to nourish a shared reflection on the meaning, stakes and evolutions of mediation.
On the occasion of Meeting #1 of the Nantes Workshops on Cultural Mediation on 13 November 2018, several themes to be explored in greater depth were proposed by the participants. Among these themes, 4 were prioritized by the actors, in evolving formats according to the topics:
Meeting #3 of the Nantes workshops on cultural mediation was conceived and organized by the City of Nantes (Mission Cultural and Territorial Action - EAC), in collaboration with Benoît Labourdette. It is part of the NEC (Digital In Common), supported by Nantes Métropole and PING, thus enabling the initiatives of the cultural mediation and digital mediation networks to be brought together.
In April 2019, cultural mediation stakeholders took part in the definition of this meeting by specifying their main expectations:
On September 17, 2019, 120 people participated in the plenary session and the collective intelligence and creativity workshop. The participants were then divided into 5 workshops; Workshop 1 “Cultural and digital mediation” brought together 30 people.
The document (synthesized and formatted by Benoît Labourdette in collaboration with Véronique Guiho-Leroux) is based on the syntheses produced during the day by the team of volunteer editors (accompanied by Oxamyne), references the intervention supports, web links and productions produced during the plenary sessions, as well as the synthesis of NEC Workshop 1: Cultural and Digital Mediation Workshop. It concludes with a “Contacts Exchange”, online resources, an assessment of the day by the participants and future proposals.

In the digital age, cultural policies, whatever their field, must in my view take digital images and their uses into account by citizens, especially the younger ones.
Digital has put the image at the center of our lives. With these tools, thought and implemented in a lucid, innovative and adapted way, it is possible to invent new strategies to mobilize, give meaning and make appropriate the cultural proposals by the public.
