“Artistic creation and digital heritage”: conference by Benoît Labourdette
Awareness and responsibility in the present with regard to our digital heritage are the guarantee of the construction of our humanity.
Human beings have always told the story of their sensitivities and their visions of the world by all possible signs: graphics, painting, texts, photographs, voices, music, videos... This is their specificity in the kingdom of the living, and the conservation as well as the access to these signs are vital to them. These signs were until recently exclusively analogical: books, records, paintings, family photos, etc. Today, the majority of human productions, whether social, personal or artistic, are digital: they are no longer physical objects, but data, preserved in deported supports and very little perennial. Thus, it is known that the majority of these contemporary traces will be irremediably lost. With Benoît Labourdette, let’s explore the sociological, psychological, technological and ethnological stakes of the “digital heritage”, and let’s see his proposals of concrete tracks for the construction in the present of a future in which the human being does not lose himself.
Benoit Labourdette is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, an expert in cultural innovation and digital strategies, and a teacher. He founded the Pocket Films Festival in 2005, co-founded the Short Film Festival in 2011 and invented the collaborative project Par ma fenêtre since the first confinement in 2020. As a trainer, he accompanies companies, institutions and communities in their cultural and social innovation strategies, using new technologies and new uses, in the perspective of cultural rights.
